So, the last day of my long weekend was spent doing yard work. UGH. For about six hours, including two trips to the dump. The last trip we had a bunch of tree branches and at one point a branch got hung up on my shirt as I was trying to fling it off the trailer. It just about pulled my shirt off over my head :D
Fun times!
Anyhow, did relax a little this holiday weekend so that was good. But I'd planned for today to be writing day... see above for how that worked out. Anyhow, if anyone is waiting for part 16 of WAAP I'm afraid it will be a bit longer. The rest of the whole story is done, in my head, It's just getting my fingers to work that is the problem most days.
Hope you all had a good weekend!

2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee.
1) Art - Red/Blue Heads by me
This was a little art project I did years ago. I had this chinese craft paper that was red with four heads cut into the design and I painted a piece of paper bright blue then stuck the head-paper to it. It was just me playing around but I really liked the result.
2) MISC - Tree Stars by me
Love trees, love stars... I feel very rooted to the Earth and yet at the same time I've always been fascinated by space and stars/planets/etc. So, I found this image and it seemed to fit that dynamic in me quite well.
3) JER - Nuts by me
Jericho! A lot of the fans sent the network nuts in retaliation to the shows cancellation, which resulted in it coming back for a very short second season to wrap up the series. The nuts campaign came about from a WWII story that was told within the show.
4) JM - WOO! by me
James Marsden! I found this great picture one day and it screamed to be made into an icon. Jimmy looking good and letting go with a great big yell. I adore it.
5) LS - Indecisive Kate by me
This is Kate, a character in one of my favorite Famke Janssen movies Love & Sex. Kate has a bit of trouble deciding what she wants throughout this movie and her expressions here are just great. It's very me at times :)

In other happy news, hubby has booked our flights for our upcoming Thanksgiving Family Trip™. This year we will all be making the pilgrimage to San Francisco! We've already made the deposit to reserve a four bedroom flat, and my mil and sil have their flights booked as well. This will be our third annnual trip and I can't wait! I've never been to SF and already have places bookmarked that I want to go see. One is a winery/resort that

Yep, moved in yesterday. *G*
The boy? He's a hottie! I haven't seen him, but I've heard all about him from my daughter and her friends. They spent the day by the pool. And the privacy fence has two boards down. *G* Yeah, wonder what this was about? When they finally did come in...
Enter seven-year-old. She sat down on the dining room floor all giggles. The wiggly kind. She couldn't stop. Lots of threats and leg pulling across the floor by the girls got her to finally spill.
"I sent M (four-year-old son) to the fence to tell that guy, 'Hi, you're a hottie.'"
Oh yeah, that went over well.
Here's what I'm finding funny:
My husband was gonna fix those two boards all day long, honey. In just a minute. Promise.
When he walked in on the screeching battle that came about after my seven-year-old's confession...
Five minutes later the boards were fixed.
What's wrong, Daddy? LOL!

Dear Authors:
I wasn't really sure what to write today. I fear my thoughts may have already moved on to the holiday weekend (indeed, much of publishing seems to have taken a 4 day weekend), which may possibly be free of query-reading, though I might still end up taking a look at a manuscript or two. But I was thinking earlier (before my thoughts had flown) about how much easier it is to send an electronic query as opposed to a snailmail one -- no visits to the post office (though now one can print stamps from online), no stamps, no SASE, no paper required. But sometimes I wonder if it's made it *too* easy. The number of queries I get that are completely inappropriate for me (e.g. how-to-books, self-help books, etc.) is much higher than it ever used to be when we only had paper submissions to review. Every week I get queries that haven't even been spell-checked. Or are addressed to the wrong person (the one I just read today was emailed to me but the opening of the letter included another agent at another agency, address and all -- oops). Sure, all these things used to happen with snailmail too, but never so frequently, at least in my experience. I don't tend to hold that sort of thing against a person, but I may be more forgiving than some agents on those fronts, so please, slow down -- it really won't take all that long to check the guidelines, proof your query, and make sure all is in order. You never know when even something that small may have an effect. The devil's in the details, as they say.
Happy 4th of July to those of you who celebrate it. I hope you enjoy the company of friends and/or family, and the weather allows for a cook-out or three. To those who aren't celebrating this holiday, i hope you have a good weekend too.
