I flashed the dump!

  • Jul. 6th, 2008 at 5:44 PM

So, the last day of my long weekend was spent doing yard work. UGH. For about six hours, including two trips to the dump. The last trip we had a bunch of tree branches and at one point a branch got hung up on my shirt as I was trying to fling it off the trailer. It just about pulled my shirt off over my head :D

Fun times!

Anyhow, did relax a little this holiday weekend so that was good. But I'd planned for today to be writing day... see above for how that worked out. Anyhow, if anyone is waiting for part 16 of WAAP I'm afraid it will be a bit longer. The rest of the whole story is done, in my head, It's just getting my fingers to work that is the problem most days.

Hope you all had a good weekend!

And the day after...

  • Jul. 5th, 2008 at 9:02 PM
A fishing trip.   Very buggy, very unproductive.  It was fun... a little.  *G*

[info]jdpruett actually got me in the pic he posted on his livejournal, but thank goodness it's a back shot and I'm in the distance.  Today wasn't a day I was dressed for a photo shoot.  Wait.  That's every day.  *G* Btw, this is my hubby and that little girl is the seven year old I post about so much.

I hope everyone's enjoying their weekend!

But I caught an eppy of Ice Road Truckers on highdef... now I'll be honest, I'll watch just about anything in highdef including the mating habits of worms...

I really liked it... and so I went to my guide a taped an ep of Deadliest Catch? I think I'm hooked.... LOL

I also downloaded a free ep of Black Gold off iTunes... that was interesting, cause they're drilling for West Texas Intermediate... (I work for an oil company).

I'm not a Idol watcher or Bachelor, Dancing with anyone... but I think I have some things to watch while I wait for BSG s4.5.....

Icon meme-ola...

  • Jul. 5th, 2008 at 5:26 PM
1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee.

[info]dragonsinger picked these:

1) Art - Red/Blue Heads by me
title or description
This was a little art project I did years ago. I had this chinese craft paper that was red with four heads cut into the design and I painted a piece of paper bright blue then stuck the head-paper to it. It was just me playing around but I really liked the result.

2) MISC - Tree Stars by me
title or description
Love trees, love stars... I feel very rooted to the Earth and yet at the same time I've always been fascinated by space and stars/planets/etc. So, I found this image and it seemed to fit that dynamic in me quite well.

3) JER - Nuts by me
title or description
Jericho! A lot of the fans sent the network nuts in retaliation to the shows cancellation, which resulted in it coming back for a very short second season to wrap up the series. The nuts campaign came about from a WWII story that was told within the show.

4) JM - WOO! by me
title or description
James Marsden! I found this great picture one day and it screamed to be made into an icon. Jimmy looking good and letting go with a great big yell. I adore it.

5) LS - Indecisive Kate by me
title or description
This is Kate, a character in one of my favorite Famke Janssen movies Love & Sex. Kate has a bit of trouble deciding what she wants throughout this movie and her expressions here are just great. It's very me at times :)

And, for you American moderates and democrats in the hizzy, here is a rundown of Obama and McCain's record on Choice and Women's Issues, courtesy of [info]obama_2008 . In case the whole thing ain't completely, utterly obvious by now.

Happy Independance Day!

  • Jul. 4th, 2008 at 11:54 AM
Have a wonderful Fourth, my friends. *hugs* We're going to my sister-in-law's around 4 for a family bash and I will actually enjoy it. *g* I feel amazingly better today, and somehow slept until almost 10:30. I'm sure it was a combination of the meds and serious exhaustion/lack of sleep this week, but still ... I feel sooo much better than yesterday.

\o/

In other happy news, hubby has booked our flights for our upcoming Thanksgiving Family Trip™. This year we will all be making the pilgrimage to San Francisco! We've already made the deposit to reserve a four bedroom flat, and my mil and sil have their flights booked as well. This will be our third annnual trip and I can't wait! I've never been to SF and already have places bookmarked that I want to go see. One is a winery/resort that [info]ptarmigan and I used as a setting for an rp thread a few years back. Whee!

Fun times!

We have new neighbors...

Yep, moved in yesterday. *G*

The boy? He's a hottie! I haven't seen him, but I've heard all about him from my daughter and her friends. They spent the day by the pool. And the privacy fence has two boards down. *G* Yeah, wonder what this was about? When they finally did come in...

Enter seven-year-old. She sat down on the dining room floor all giggles. The wiggly kind. She couldn't stop. Lots of threats and leg pulling across the floor by the girls got her to finally spill.

"I sent M (four-year-old son) to the fence to tell that guy, 'Hi, you're a hottie.'"

Oh yeah, that went over well.

Here's what I'm finding funny:

My husband was gonna fix those two boards all day long, honey. In just a minute. Promise.

When he walked in on the screeching battle that came about after my seven-year-old's confession...

Five minutes later the boards were fixed.

What's wrong, Daddy? LOL!

This is just too amusing to resist xD

List ten fictional characters you would make out with (or go all the way, if that's your thing) and tag five people to do the same.

1. Edward Cullen. (Twilight)
2. Archie Kennedy (Horatio Hornblower)
3. Horatio Hornblower himself (how's THAT for alliteration xD)
4. Lee Adama (Battlestar Galactica)
5. Will Turner (Pirates of the Caribbean)
6. Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa (Rome..always thought he was cute *blush*)
7. Silas Botwin (Weeds)
8. Cedric Diggory (Harry Potter)
9. Tom Riddle (HP..Pre-Voldemort. And no. I don't care that he's evil. xD)
10. Mason (Dead Like Me)

That was actually more difficult than I thought it would be. xD But fun, I s'ppose. I won't tag anyone, but whoever wants to do it, go ahead ;D

Stolen from Cristy

1. Pick 15 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them here for everyone to guess.
4. Fill in the film title once it's guessed.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDb search functions.

1. I knew a man once who said, "Death smiles at us all. All a man can do is smile back."

2. (Just Friends) What the hell are you doing?! This is a Pontiac. Grand. Prix!!

3. I didn't do enough!

4. Not one man... No, nor ten men... Nor a hundred can assuage me.

5. Because you were home.

6. We are buried beneath the avalanche of your inadequacies, Mr. Creedy!

7. (HP: The Goblet of Fire) Just take your egg and... mull things over in the hot water.

8. Immortals... we put their name to the test.

9. Well I hope he told ya how to pull a fire poker..OUTTA YER ASS!!

10. The smart enemy attacks you exactly where you think you are safe.

11. (Family Guy movie) Thank you, Tricia, for setting your people back a thousand years...

12. (Seabiscuit) The horse is too small, the jockey too big, the trainer too old, and I'm too dumb to know the difference.

13. Now you're looking for the secret... but you won't find it because you're not really looking. You don't really want to know the secret... You want to be fooled.

14. (Accepted) I don't want to be here alone when the walls start to bleed!

15. (Gone With the Wind) No, I don't think I will kiss you, although you need kissing, badly. That's what's wrong with you. You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how.

# of queries read this week: 108
# of partials requested: 1
genre of partial requested: urban fantasy

Dear Authors:

I wasn't really sure what to write today. I fear my thoughts may have already moved on to the holiday weekend (indeed, much of publishing seems to have taken a 4 day weekend), which may possibly be free of query-reading, though I might still end up taking a look at a manuscript or two. But I was thinking earlier (before my thoughts had flown) about how much easier it is to send an electronic query as opposed to a snailmail one -- no visits to the post office (though now one can print stamps from online), no stamps, no SASE, no paper required. But sometimes I wonder if it's made it *too* easy. The number of queries I get that are completely inappropriate for me (e.g. how-to-books, self-help books, etc.) is much higher than it ever used to be when we only had paper submissions to review. Every week I get queries that haven't even been spell-checked. Or are addressed to the wrong person (the one I just read today was emailed to me but the opening of the letter included another agent at another agency, address and all -- oops). Sure, all these things used to happen with snailmail too, but never so frequently, at least in my experience. I don't tend to hold that sort of thing against a person, but I may be more forgiving than some agents on those fronts, so please, slow down -- it really won't take all that long to check the guidelines, proof your query, and make sure all is in order. You never know when even something that small may have an effect. The devil's in the details, as they say.

Happy 4th of July to those of you who celebrate it. I hope you enjoy the company of friends and/or family, and the weather allows for a cook-out or three. To those who aren't celebrating this holiday, i hope you have a good weekend too.

It took me how long to notice?

How long have I had this picture? And I just now noticed the girl is writing with her left hand. That just makes it all the more fitting for me.

Your result for The What type of MAN turns you on Test...

Exotic bad-ass

You scored 55% masculine, 53% athletic, 55% exotic, and 13% refined!

You want everything in a man at the same time! Masculine, built like a Greek god, exotic and mysterious and even some bad-ass in there too. I think you would really like Freddy Ljungberg, the Swedish soccer player. He's the guy on the right. But let's face it, the whole point of this was to look at a bunch of hot guys. If you liked what you saw, please rate my test!
